We have added a new page to our website, so that our future guests can see what people have to say about us. Over the course of the summer we sent out several surveys to our guests to find out first hand, what they thought about their experience. In fact everyone who went whitewater rafting on the Middle Ocoee this year received a survey and we got a lot of great responses. Here are a few of them.

Everyone from reservations, the bus driver, to the river guide, was pleasant and each did their part to ensure our group had a great experience. Edward Mitchell

Our guide did a great job interacting with everyone in our raft. It felt like our trip was custom made for us- Ricky and Terri.

Every year we are treated very well by the staff and guides at Adventures Unlimited. The facilities are great as well- Thomas Mavor

We have used your company for our annual rafting trip for 3 years now and would not use anyone else. The reservations are easy to make, the staff is super nice, and the guides always make sure we have a fun trip. Not to mention we like your campgrounds the best. The bath house is nice and functional, and larger than most others. We’ve rafted down the Nantahala, the Tuck, and the Ocoee and obviously the Ocoee is the most fun, and your river company makes it even better! Thanks for everything!- Kathy Gaylor

Everything was great. I wish I could do it again this year!!! Carmen

Reservation staff was very friendly and patient with questions. Our guide was AWESOME! And the rafting was a blast! – Susan Wallace

Everyone in your business was helpful and caring. I really enjoyed our stay in the little bungalow. What a dream! – Pat Morres

This season has really flown by fast! After looking at the schedule today I realized that there are only 2 more days to raft the Upper Ocoee until next summer. This Saturday, September 12th and September 19th are the last 2 days. Whether you have been on the Upper several times, or this is your first time, you better act fast to get a spot. Many people ask, “I’ve run the Ocoee several years ago and had a great time but what is the Upper Ocoee River really like?” This is the section that is above the Classic Middle Section and where the Olympic Canoe and Kayak Slalom events were held in July of 1996. The beginning of the Upper Ocoee is characterized as a wilderness section with spectacular scenery and gentile whitewater. Then after the first short mile the river begins its drop towards the awesome class IV rapids of the Ocoee Olympic Course. After several challenging class III and IV rapids we enter the world famous Ocoee Olympic Course. With almost a mile of whitewater the Ocoee Olympic Course is like one giant class IV rapid, with all the key ingredients; vertical drops, huge waves, challenging maneuvering and repeat! Simply put “AWESOME”! But it’s not over yet. we still have several more great rapids and a last second “hidden” drop just to keep you guessing. Call today to make your reservations.

After reading several different blogs about whitewater rafting, I’ve decided to create a quick reference for our future rafting guests about what to wear on your trip. So I’m going to be proactive about this and first tell you what not to wear. Most items on this list are inspired by true events, or at the very least what someone claimed to be true.

What not to wear: High heeled shoes(they’re kind of rough on the raft floor), cotton sweatshirts, expensive jewelry, jeans, cowboy boots, leather pants(basically, all leather clothing should be off limits), coveralls, any kind of formal dress, flip-flops, rodeo chaps, or your personal life jacket used for fishing or jet skiing.

Here is what you should wear for warm weather: Swim suit, t-shirt, shorts, tennis shoes or river sandals and sunscreen.

For cooler weather: Windbreaker, fleece, cotton synthetics, wool sweater or wetsuit, wool hat, neoprene booties or wool socks and tennis shoes. We also offer spraywear to our guests at no additional charge, but you should be prepared and bring the clothing listed above. Wetsuits are available for rental.

I hope that this helps everyone out, remember if your unsure about something don’t hesitate to just call and ask. Also if anyone coming rafting with us soon owns a Tennessee Vols football helmet, please wear it on your rafting trip because that would just be awesome! Go Vols!!!Rafting Helmet

First off, I would like to apologize to everybody who has been visiting our blog for new posts. We have had some technical problems that have been resolved, and our blog will be updated regularly. Some of our guests have inquired what the purpose of our blog is, as well as what kind of content can be expected for subscribers. I would like to let everyone know that we will be using it as a forum to recognize our whitewater rafting guests, as well as provide information about the Ocoee Region. Feel free to leave any comments or offer suggestions, we value feedback a great deal. Sadly, I must inform at least one of our guests who has done so, the death of Michael Jackson is not a topic I will be blogging about. However the death of Walter Cronkite is something particularly relevant to those of us in the Ocoee region. Walter Cronkite is considered by many to be the most iconic news personality in history. I recently came across an article that peaked my interest about him, apparently in 1959 he made a visit to the Cherokee National Forest and ended up staying overnight unexpectedly. The story was first reported by the Daily Post Athenian on October 15th, 1959. Reportedly Cronkite was a sports car enthusiasts who was traveling through the area on Highway 64 en route to Las Vegas. At around 2:30 am he lost control of the Triumph he was driving, slid off of the road, right into the Ocoee River. He was fished out with no serious injuries and taken to the Hiwassee Grill where he stayed the rest of the night. His car was taken to Benton where it was repaired the next day, sending Cronkite on his way. For all of the details check out the full story online at

Wow what a great Sunday. We had a four boat 10 o’clock and a twelve boat 2 o’clock. The four boat was excellent. Maybe the tightest four boat trip I have ever seen. The twelve boat went beautifully. Adventures Unlimited owned the Ocoee with a big trip. My morning crew had so much fun they came back for the afternoon trip. Carlo showed the trainees what NOT to do in more ways than one and what to do if they did that which they are not supposed to do. :) I will post pictures later.
I LOVE RAFTING!
