Adventures Unlimited FAQs
Full Ocoee Express
Full Ocoee Deluxe
Do I need a reservation?”
Yes. Call 1-800-662-0667 or visit our website to book. Often, we can accommodate walk-ins but it is best to call us as far in advance as possible to secure your date and time.
“Where is the resort located?”
Our address is 522 Highway 64, Ocoee, Tennessee 37361. Plug this into a GPS and it will lead you directly to us!
“Do I need experience?”
No! There is no experience necessary for rafting the Ocoee River. Each raft is led by a certified guide.
“Who can participate?”
Since no experience is necessary, almost everyone can raft. Every raft is accompanied by a certified guide who instructs a safety orientation prior and will remain in the raft for the entirety of the trip. Keep in mind that you will walk on terrain, paddle, and get wet. Also, it’s a possibility that you may swim in the river.
“Is there an age minimum for rafting?”
Yes. Tennessee State Law requires each guest must be at least 12 years old to raft the Ocoee River.
“Is there a weight limit for rafting?”
No. However, each guest must be in good health and have a chest size no larger than 56 inches to fit into the life vests
“Can I raft if I have a disability or medical condition?”
If you have concerns, we recommend that you discuss them with your physician prior to the rafting activity. Depending on your situation, we may be able to accommodate you. Please give us a call with any questions. Also, be aware that each trip has a first aid raft with a dry box that can hold any required medical items such as Epi-pens, inhalers, or medications for easy access.
“Do I need to sign a waiver?”
Yes. Each guest must fill out and sign a waiver of liability form. If you’re under the age of 18, the waiver will require a signature from a parent or guardian. A link is sent to each reservation for confirmation of their reservation and in the email, there is a link where you can easily give an electronic signature for your trip! #SAVETREES Please sign before arriving at Adventures Unlimited. It makes the check-in process a breeze, especially for large groups!
“Is rafting safe?”
Whitewater rafting holds inherent risks that are beyond human control. Before each trip, all guests will be provided with a life vest, helmet, paddle, and safety briefing. All of our guides complete an extensive training program which includes certification in First Aid and CPR. Also, many guides and all Trip Leaders have advanced accreditations such as a Wilderness First Responder Certification. We make every effort to ensure a safe and comfortable trip plus an awesome experience! However, you will be required to sign a waiver of liability and participate at your own risk. If you’re a first-timer or a seasoned pro, our certified guides can fine tune the experience to your individual needs and deliver a unique trip each time. Please discuss your specific concerns with us.
“What days are available for rafting?”
All of our rafting trips are subject to availability for reservations. Regarding the water release schedule, the Ocoee River runs every day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays through the summer months and only on weekends in September and October. Also, the Full River Adventure is only available on Saturdays and Sundays. The Ocoee is dam controlled so the water is released on a specific schedule. Please give us a call with more questions.
“How long is the rafting trip?”
The Classic Middle Ocoee River trip is five miles long and includes 1.5 to 2 hours on the river. Plan to spend a total of 3 hours with us from arrival to departure. The Full Ocoee River trip is ten miles long and includes 4.5 to 5 hours on the river with a lunch break in between the rafting sections. You will be with us for a total of 6 hours from arrival to departure. On each trip, transportation is provided since we are not located directly on the river. The bus ride is 15 to 30 minutes and features views and scenery of the Cherokee National Forest. Our certified drivers are happy to safely carry everyone from Point A to Point B in a prompt manner.
“When should we arrive for our trip?”
Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled trip time. This allows for sufficient time to check-in, sign waivers, change clothes and lock your personal belongings in the car before the trip begins. Remember that Adventures Unlimited operates on Eastern Standard Time so factor this into your travel plans.
“What can I bring on the raft?”
Nothing. Once you’re in the raft, there is no place to secure items. Plus, you’ll be too busy paddling and having fun! Please plan to eat/drink before or after your trip. Our Roadkill Smokehouse dishes out delicious barbeque with all the fixings and there are various picnic tables around the property to enjoy with your rafting crew. If you’re rafting the Full Ocoee trip, we will provide your lunch and drinks midway through the trip.
“What should I wear?”
T-shirts, shorts, and shoes are required for each trip. Keep in mind that shoes must be secure so NO flip flops. We recommend bathing suits, nylon, or any other outdoor clothing that dries quickly.
“What do I need to bring?”
We recommend bringing as little as possible since nothing will be carried onto the raft except yourself and the equipment. For your convenience and comfort, please bring a complete change of clothes, towel, sunscreen, and a happy attitude! Our bath house is fully operational with hot showers so bring toiletry items to take advantage of this feature. As previously stated, if you must bring a medical item, the Trip Leader will be able to store it in their dry box with the first aid equipment.
“While rafting, what will I do with my personal belongings and car keys?”
We provide two options for this service. You may lock all personal belongings in your vehicle and check in keys at the office where they will be stored for the duration of your rafting experience. Also, we provide lockers that can be rented for a small fee. If you arrive on motorcycle, you can store your personal belongings and helmets in the office. Please leave pets and expensive possessions at home!
“How many guests can fit into one raft?”
Our rafts hold 6 guests plus 1 guide and we fill them as needed. However, if your group is larger than 6, we will fill rafts accordingly. We do not guarantee seating arrangements unless a reservation is made together under one name. Please let us know ahead of time if separate groups would like to be seated together so we can attempt to accommodate.
“Will photos be taken?”
Yes! Professional photos are taken of each raft on all trips which are available to view and purchase after your trip. Also, all photos will be posted online at the end of each rafting day if you later decide to document your adventures. At Adventures Unlimited, our guides work hard to provide a great experience for you and they appreciate any form of gratitude.
“Can I request a guide?”
Absolutely. We love uniting guests with their favorite guides! If you would like to request a guide that you have rafted with before or have seen their trip reviews on social media, feel free to request them upon reservation. However, guide requests cannot always be guaranteed. We will try our best to schedule your group with the requested guide but please note that the request may not be fulfilled.
“What is the weather policy?”
We raft rain or shine. In the event of harsh weather, we will delay as needed for the storm to pass and continue rafting. Tennessee Valley Authority will notify us if the water has increased to an unsafe level so we are always on alert. Nonetheless, you’re going to get wet anyway so raft on! For cool weather days, we provide complimentary splash jackets and wet suit rentals at $10 each.
“What is the Cancellation Policy?”
Regular Cancellation Policy:
Adventures Unlimited will offer a full refund on your deposit if you cancel your reservation at least 14 days prior. If you cancel your reservation with less than 14 days but more than 7 days notice, you will receive a full refund on your rafting reservation less a $20 per person cancellation fee. If you cancel your lodging or food service reservation with less than 14 days but more than 7 days notice, a 50% cancellation fee will be charged. Rescheduling and reducing group size will be considered a cancellation.
